Lower Cape Outreach Council Needs Your Support
With so many lower Cape families and individuals struggling to keep their heads above water, Lower Cape Outreach Council is facing record requests for emergency food, clothing and financial assistance. Our 8 food pantries are emptying out almost as quickly as we stock their shelves. Additionally, we are providing bi-monhtly distributions of food to our local Councils On Aging, WIC and A Cape Cod Children's Place. While the public is extremely generous with donations of canned and packaged foods, we must purchase fresh fruits and vegetables (beyond what we are growing in our community garden), meat and fish, dairy and grain products and a variety of products that are not convered by food assistance, things like Pampers and Depends, paper products, pet foods. In the first 6 months of 2010, we have spent over $44,000 on food. Emergency financial assistance is breaking all records, too. In the first 6 months of 2010, we have already come up with $120,797.77 for rent and mortgage payments...$27, 308 for overdue electric bills...$41,815 for fuel...$30,698 for transportation...$16,185 for child care... $9,973 for medical and prescriptions. Altogether, in the first 6 months of 2010, we have come up with $298,700.80 to help our neighbors in need...that's $70,000 more than this time last year. You Can Help with a tax-deductible contribution! Hundreds of local families and individuals, seniors and children are counting on you.
Thank you from your friends and neighbors at Lower Cape Outreach Council.
