Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is available to qualified applicants for payments of essential household services including electricity, heat, rent/mortgage payments, insurance, medical and prescription drug expenses, transportation and other expenses which can break an already stretched budget. This assistance is short-term in nature, designed to help people make ends meet until they can help themselves.

Our Constituents

LCOC serves qualified residents in the lower Cape communities of Brewster, Chatham, Eastham, Harwich, Orleans, Provincetown, Truro and Wellfleet.

Of the $841,997.22 of emergency assistance we provided in 2009, over half of that figure went to cover the costs of overdue mortgage and rent payments, to pay for utilities that were about to be shut down, to fill oil tanks or meet unexpected medical and prescription costs.  Nearly $350,000.00 of food was distributed through our 8 food pantries and slightly more than $100,000.00 worth of clothing and bedding went to our clients and their children.

We also came up with an additional $60,000 worth of toys for local boys and girls over the holiday season.
